Science Initiatives Internship

Achieve's Science Initiatives unit is offering an internship to support state work relating to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) implementation and other critical projects. 

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are K-12 science standards created through a collaborative, state-led process. The standards are based on the 
Framework for K-12 Science Educationwhich was developed by the National Research Council, the staffing arm of the National Academy of Sciences, and identifies what students need to know and be able to do to be a functional citizen, which includes being scientifically literate and an effective member of the U.S. workforce. 


Strategic Initiatives Internship

The Intern, Strategic Initiatives, reports to the Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives and has primary responsibility for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Strategic Initiatives team. Responsibilities focus on supporting the Associate Director in planning and executing Achieve meetings and webinars; tracking, compiling and analyzing state policy, research and advocacy tools and resources; supporting the development of case making advocacy and communications materials; management of grants and contracts; and project management. 


State Policy & Implementation Support Internship

The intern reports to the Associate Director and will play a critical role on the SPIS Team to support the EQuIP initiative, www.achieve.org/equip.

Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives

The Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives reports to the VP for Strategic Initiatives and is responsible for executing Achieve's advocacy strategy with key constituent groups to promote, advance and sustain the college-and career-ready (CCR) agenda.  Responsibilities focus on knowledge development, case making and supporting allies to promote and sustain college- and career-ready policies in states.  The work will require informing, engaging and mobilizing allies across states in the business, civic, higher & pre-K12 education, military and policy communities.  A particular focus will be on working with the corporate community, CCR advocacy groups and STEM-focused advocates to ensure that they have the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for the CCR agenda.


Director, State Services

The Director, State Services is responsible for integrating the complex work Achieve undertakes with states to advance, implement and sustain their college-and career-ready agendas. Major responsibilities include working with Achieve program, advocacy and communications staff to ensure that services to states are coordinated and that we are meeting states' needs as well as Achieve's goals and objectives. The director will organize internal Achieve work teams to engage state partners as well as maintain internal knowledge management around the work of states to keep all staff well-informed about state activities.
