Project Director – Baltimore Leadership Development Program
Baltimore, MD
Seeking dynamic education leaders!
TNTP seeks a full-time Project Director to lead the Strategy, Systems and Policy Department's Leadership Development Program in partnership with Baltimore City Schools. This position is based in Baltimore, Maryland and is available immediately.
Who We Are
TNTP strives to end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom. A national nonprofit organization founded by teachers, TNTP is driven by the knowledge that effective teachers have a greater impact on student achievement than any other school factor. In response, TNTP develops customized programs and policy interventions that enable education leaders to find, develop and keep great teachers.
The Strategy, Systems and Policy department helps schools, districts and states identify how teachers are performing in their most critical role: advancing student learning. Specifically, our teams are focused on helping districts develop their leaders, equipping them with the systems, processes and tools they need to manage well. Depending on the project, areas of focus could include: training principals' managers, certifying evaluators, designing teacher evaluation systems, and building online training and manager resources. This team also builds on what we're learning through these projects to establish policies and practices that prioritize and support effective teaching.
Who We Want
TNTP pushes the boundaries of what's possible in public education every day, and we seek candidates who share our vision of ending educational inequality. Our employees are bright, dynamic and dedicated to overcoming incredible challenges in order to achieve remarkable results. More than a job, working at TNTP is a commitment. Every job is essential, and every employee's contributions and ideas are integral to our success.
The Project Director will partner with Baltimore City Schools to design a self-paced pathway for leadership development for current teachers, administrators and other staff. The ultimate goal of this three-year grant-funded project is to increase the pool of high-quality candidates for the principal role, improve the overall leadership skills of Baltimore City Schools staff, retain effective teachers, and distribute leadership in schools.
We are looking for an articulate, compelling education leader who is motivated by a vision of reform that positions schools and districts, particularly those serving the highest-need students, to support student achievement above all. The successful candidate will be capable of translating this vision into practical steps, finding creative paths around obstacles, and engaging school district leaders in partnership to implement these steps, ultimately resulting in change that positions schools as thriving organizations that support effective teaching and strong student outcomes.
