The next deadline for Capital Teaching Residency is this Friday, January 11th.  All interested applicants should go to our careers page and submit an online application.  We will be conducting an informational webinar tomorrow, January 8th, at 5:30pm EST.  To sign up, please email Isabelle Cross, CTR Program Associate, at isabelle.cross@kippdc.org.

Organizational Overview:

The Capital Teaching Residency (CTR) is a nationally recognized, highly- selective teacher training program. Capital Teaching Residents (CTRs) spend their residency year in a classroom with a highly effective teacher at KIPP DC or E.L Haynes. Both schools are high performing charters in the DC area. CTRs are placed in Early Childhood, Elementary, Special Education and Secondary Math or Science classrooms. During their residency year, CTRs learn the teaching profession through a gradual release model supported by their mentor teacher and school leader.

Residents are an integral part of the school community at E.L. Haynes and KIPP DC. They slowly increase their teaching responsibility during their residency year. During their residency, CTRs participate in numerous professional development activities, including a certification course through The New Teacher Project, to improve their teaching practice and pedagogical knowledge.

CTRs commit to two years of teaching beyond their residency year. After completing their residency, many CTR alumni remain in the classroom and continue to teach at E.L. Haynes or KIPP DC.
