[YEP-DC] Student Recruiting Has Begun for City Arts (Jobs for Artists)

www.cityartsdc.org

Greetings!

City Arts is pleased to announce that we are now recruiting students for our 2012-2013 Urban Arts Mentoring Program! This program will allow selected students to work side-by-side with professional artists to create large-scale public murals and mosaics. Selected students receive paid training, working on a variety of high-profile projects for neighborhoods across the District. These projects enhance the quality of life for District residents and enliven their communities. Participants will also have the opportunity to build their own portfolios as well as obtain entrepreneurial skills needed to market and sell their artwork.

This program takes place after school 2-3 times per week on site at City Arts' new location at 614 S Street NW, just steps away from the Shaw/Howard metro stop.

The program hires youth between the ages of 14 and 19 that have an interest in pursuing art professionally and trains them on best practices, technique and different styles of art. They are then allowed to work on public arts projects throughout the city as well as encouraged to find their own creative niche through entrepreneurial training.

If you are interested in receiving more information, or have students that may be interested in hearing more about this opportunity, please contact Manager Jovan Speller at jovanspeller@cityartsdc.org or call 202-331-1966.

Sincerely,
City Arts
