[YEP-DC] Job: Summer Opportunities with City Kids Wilderness Project

City Kids Wilderness Project provides outdoor adventure and leadership development opportunities for under-resourced DC youth. During the school year, programming and support is provided in Washington, DC and during the summer, programming and support is provided in both DC and at the organization's ranch, Broken Arrow Ranch, in Jackson, WY.

Open Positions:
Current open positions are for our residential summer operations in Jackson, WY.

Internship Coordinator:
The Internship Coordinator works with a small team of co-workers as a part of a summer-adventure based program for underserved and at-risk youth. The City Kids Internship Program provides a structured internship/job experience outside the CKWP program for youth who have completed the camper phase of the City Kids Program. Each intern is placed in an individual internship according to personal interests and qualifications. The Internship Coordinator is the logistical coordinator, primary mentor, daily supervisor for all interns in the JET Program. The Internship Coordinator is responsible for the daily logistics of each intern's placement, including; providing or arranging transportation to and from internship sites, regular contact with each intern's supervisor, requesting and responding to evaluation/feedback on each intern's performance. This is a full-time/ residential position requiring the Internship Coordinator to live on-site with 4-6 interns.  

Kitchen Assistant:
The Kitchen Assistant assist camp chef with meal preparation and take majority of responsibility for meal clean-up and kitchen/dining room cleanliness and maintenance. We serve an average of 40 people per meal, three meals daily. Additionally, the assistant cook will help with the preparation of backcountry trip food supplies. Kitchen staff are occasionally asked to assist on day and overnight camping trips. This is a great position for individuals interested in learning more about outdoor education. 

Outdoor Adventure Program Staff:

 The Outdoor Adventure Program Staff works with a small team of co-workers to provide a summer adventure-based program for underserved and at-risk youth. The program includes both on-site and off-site activities, single day and multi-day trips. Staff spend time with students developing goals, creating journals, problem solving, team building and debriefing. Each staff is responsible for a cabin with 4-6 students. Additionally, each staff is responsible to be the primary mentor for a counselor-in-training.
