Who are the people who make schools and systems fairer, who work to raise achievement and close gaps in America?
The more than 600 equity-driven educators and activists from around the country who come to the Ed Trust's annual conference.
Join us there.
At the Education Trust's 2012 conference, Getting It Done: Raising Achievement, Closing Gaps for All, you'll hear about best practices, catch up on the latest policy and political developments, network, and get inspired for the work ahead. The dates are Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt Washington, here in DC.
Speakers include Dr. Charles Payne, urban school expert and author of So Much Reform, So Little Change. In addition, attendees will learn from outstanding principals and teachers from schools that defy the odds, overcoming poverty and racial isolation to become among the highest performing in their states. From our practice work, we'll offer specifics on school turnaround, improving teacher practice and accelerating student learning. And our advocacy and policy side will have updates on federal education policy initiatives and progress in Common Core standards implementation.
Sessions feature a series on leadership, especially including key competencies reflected in principals of schools in low-income communities who have turned around low-performing schools; a strand of workshops on improving teacher quality and accelerating student learning; and sessions that are useful to advocates and policymakers: updates on federal education policy initiatives, district budget decision-making, and parent engagement.
