Academy of Hope was founded in 1985 to serve low-income and at-risk adults in the District of Columbia by providing them the opportunity to improve their basic educational skills and to earn high school credentials. The founding vision for our school is "to be a place in which the main subject for everyone, teachers and students alike, is not reading, writing or math, but hope." In addition to basic education classes in math, reading and writing, we offer classes that help adults prepare for the G.E.D., complete the National External Diploma Program or prepare for postsecondary education and training. We also offer computer training and career counseling.
