Volunteer tutors needed in Adams Morgan this summer. Make a difference in a child's life!
Only half of DC students are proficient in math and reading, and without intervention, low-income students are at risk to lose 2 months of proficiency in reading and math over the summer. YOU can change that! For Love of Children's one-on-one tutoring program helps students achieve grade-level competency in reading and math and helps fend off that summer slide. On average, students in our summer program improve 3 months in reading and math skills while gaining confidence in their abilities. Each new tutor allows us to impact the life of one more child. Training in our structured curricula and ongoing support from professional staff are provided, so no experience is necessary.
Will you join us as a volunteer tutor this summer? The commitment is 2.5 hours twice a week for six weeks, in one of two programs:
Get started by completing an application online at www.floc.org/get-involved/volunteer or contacting Elizabeth Metz at emetz@floc.org or 202-349-3512. We hope you'll join us in our mission to teach, empower, and transform the lives of students in DC!
