Job Description

UTC is looking to fill this position in the Washington, DC office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Resident Experience Coordinator is responsible for cultivating candidates who have been accepted to the program from the moment they are admitted through their first graduate class at Summer Institute. Participants who are enrolled in their first summer training experience with Urban Teacher Center, are henceforth referred to as Summer A residents. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Recruitment:

·         Support local recruitment efforts in collaboration with the Regional Recruiter at events such as career fairs, happy hours, coffees, panels, and movie screenings. Organize and host Job Shadow Day programs for prospect. Represents 50% of time in the fall, 35% of time in the winter, and 35% of time in the spring

·         Coordinate with Regional Recruiter to implement immersion programs designed to give prospects experience with residents and fellows. Represents 50% of time in the fall, 35% of time in the winter, and 35% of time in the spring

·         Assist in collecting stories and photos about UTC residents and fellows for communication and fundraising purposes

·         Work with the Regional Recruiter to develop UTC branded items and to build marketing materials for the host city, including social media outreach

·         Attend Recruitment's weekly team meetings and meet 1:1 with Director of Recruitment bi-weekly (fall-spring)

·         Participate in local final interview days; assist Recruitment Team with logistics and planning. Work with Regional Recruiter to develop reports about new residents for school partners for matching purposes

·         Work with Regional Recruiter to host school matching events for Summer A residents

·         Work with Regional Recruiter to provide immersive teaching experiences

 

Cultivation:

·         Ensure ongoing cultivation of incoming residents from acceptance to arrival, in collaboration with Recruitment & the site teams

·         Serve as the primary point of contact for new residents onboarding to their new host city to ensure a smooth and welcoming arrival

·         Oversee logistics for onboarding new residents. Represents 50% of time in the fall, 65% of time in spring and winter, and 100% of time in summer

·         Create a set of housing options for incoming residents in their host city

·         Organize and facilitate social and educational events with current UTC fellows, residents, and incoming residents during the fall and spring

·         Develop and host a webinar series with UTC's national and city-based staff to disseminate information and welcome incoming residents

·         Organize placement events (HireVue, fairs, calls) and logistical support to allow principals to assess resident teachers for employment. Connect with principals, find venues, and manage participants

·         Design and coordinate activities to orient incoming residents to their new city (e.g. walking tours of the neighborhoods where they will teach) 

·         Starting in June of every year, take over remaining enrollment tasks ensuring final Praxis Core scores and all final transcripts are received

 

Summer Institute Operations:

·         Coordinate and finalize partnerships with institutes of higher education or similar organizations to acquire dedicated classroom space, dining, access to general facilities, and room and board for 150 residents for a duration of six weeks

·         Build partnerships for Summer A residents: including liaising with summer partners and organizing schedules to provide opportunities for daily, immersive teaching experiences

·         Co-design an orientation and move-in day for incoming residents

·         Lead orientation and move-in for incoming residents

·         Lead all aspects of planning Summer Institute with Executive Director, Assistant Director (s), Clinical Faculty Manager and CPD team (including project management, convening & coordinating efforts of cross-functional teams, managing a budget)

·         Coordinate the staffing for Summer Institute: including events management, faculty coordination, and internships

·         Hire, manage and supervise interns, graduate assistants, and resident assistants on-site

·         Provide on-the-ground logistical support for summer coursework & serve as key point to residents during their first summer

·         Manage Move-in Day – organize national staff, move-in arrangements, and dorm room assignments

 

 

Preferred Skill-Set

·         College graduate with 2-4 years of work experience, including event planning, recruitment, and customer service

·         Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

·         Ability to develop relationships and connect with others

·         Strong organizational, project management, and computer skills

·         Personable; ability to be supportive, enthusiastic, and welcoming to incoming residents

·         Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and independently

·         Highly driven individual who can thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment

·         Previous administrative experience preferred

·         Previous K-12 school experience preferred, but not required

·         Experience with Salesforce and Webex a plus 

 

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and are competitive with major nonprofits.
