[YEP-DC] EVENT: Ensuring Teacher Success: A Live Classroom Demonstration - June 2, 2015

What makes a teacher great? And how does he or she get there? Educators love to debate their theories, but Success Academy wants to show you exactly how it's done in this live, interactive math lesson featuring ten fifth-grade scholars from Harlem, along with their teacher and a panel of principals.

Very few public schools have attained the student achievement results of Success Academy. Serving primarily minority children from some of New York City's most disadvantaged neighborhoods in 32 schools across the city, Success Academy ranks in the top 1% in math and the top 3% in reading among all New York State schools. In math, they are exceptional: all 9 testing schools scored among the top 18 schools in the state, including #1 and #2.

Founder and CEO Eva Moskowitz will deliver opening remarks about Success Academy's immersive training and year-round support that prepares even first-time teachers to be highly effective. The demonstration will also include a look at the planning and preparation that Success Academy teachers and school leaders put into every class.

Audience participation will be encouraged, so be prepared to enjoy learning math right alongside our scholars.
