[YEP-DC] PLEASE POST THIS POSITION (TEACHER ASSISTANT- PART-TIME)

 

Teacher Assistant (Part-Time),  Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, Washington, DC

 

Do you enjoy managing details, collaborating with others, and making a difference in your community? As a Teacher Assistant for the largest non-profit provider of social services in the Washington region, you would be responsible for the following.

 

Description:

 

·         Collaborating with the teachers regarding the child's progress, interest levels, and social development.

·         Follows goals and strategies identified by the Education Program (IEP) or therapist for children with disabilities.

·         Participates in the development and organization of appropriate instructional materials.

·         Works with small groups and individuals at the teacher's request.

·         Records observations of students in accordance with center curriculum.

·         Assists teachers in the maintenance of documentation for each student, as required.

·         Assists teacher by performing daily classroom activities such as: checking student's backpacks, preparing table activities, assisting in the bathroom and cleaning in the classroom.

·         Participates in student intake, curriculum development, and staffing and interdisciplinary team meetings, as requested.

·         Collaborates with teacher on classroom issues and supports the teacher with parent communications.

 

Requirements:

·         Minimum of Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and be enrolled, at the time of employment, in an Associate's degree program in child development, on track to receive the degree within five (5) years and 2 years experience in a licensed early childhood program.; or an Associate's degree in child development and 2 years experience in a licensed early childhood program.

·         Experience working with children with disabilities and bilingual skills, preferred.

·         Ability to read and interpret test instruments, guides and academic literature.

·         Ability to express oral and written English language.

·         Bilingual expressive and written language skills strongly preferred.

·         Ability to work as a team member.

·         Freedom from prejudice, patience, sensitivity, tact, sound judgment and flexibility.

·         Knowledge of MS Office software package.

·         Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
