Staff and Research Assistant

Responsibilities

The research and operations associate will report directly to the President. Specific responsibilities include:

Operations:

  • Coordinate travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, as well as providing overall administrative support for Fordham's president, Michael J. Petrilli
  • Support the needs of other senior staff—including travel and scheduling—as needed; manage the overall office calendar and appointments
  • Provide general office support—including mail-handling, copying, and other tasks—as needed
  • Assist in coordinating and setting up our conference space for events
  • Help to plan happy hours, staff lunches, and other morale-boosting activities
  • Compile board briefing books and handle board-meeting logistics

Research:

  • Provide day-to-day support on selected Fordham research projects
  • Gather and analyze data for Fordham's in-house studies
  • Conduct preliminary investigation of a variety of education topics as needed
  • Contribute to Fordham's blogs and newsletters
  • Assist the research director with intern recruitment, selection, and management

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. In addition, you'll possess:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including comfort working directly with executives, funders, and the general public.
  • Excellent writing and computer skills.
  • Eagerness to work hard, learn quickly, and do everything necessary to support your colleagues.
  • Interest in education reform.

Pleasant personality and sense of humor are highly valued.

Additional Information

Office location: Downtown D.C. (near Farragut Square)

Salary: Depends on experience

Benefits: Very generous. Full health and dental, 3 weeks paid vacation, retirement plan, and Metro/parking reimbursement.
