Position Title: Early Childhood Specialist
Reports to: Joe's Champs Program Manager
Position: Full-Time, exempt
Fight For Children is a non-profit focused on ensuring children from low-income families in Washington, DC receive a great education and stay healthy so they can learn. Fight For Children works directly with schools and other non-profit organizations on projects and initiatives that ensure DC children from low-income backgrounds have a quality early education experience.
Joe's Champs is Fight For Children's multi-year program designed to improve the educational experience of three- and four-year olds in DC and to lay the foundation for their successful future academic and professional careers. Joe's Champs increases the capacity of elementary school leaders to provide supervision, evaluation, and instructional support of their early childhood teaching staff. As a result of the leaders' improved capacity, the staff will be more effective and productive teachers, resulting in higher academic and social and emotional outcomes for pre-kindergarten students.
Joe's Champs currently serves 19 elementary schools in DC and is adding additional schools each year.
Position Description:
The Early Childhood Education Specialist will work closely with the Joe's Champs Program Manager to provide content expertise to further enhance Fight For Children's signature early childhood education program, Joe's Champs. This position will prioritize building relationships with all participating schools to provide support to leadership and teaching staff. The Early Childhood Specialist will also lead ongoing professional development for school leadership, and identify and procure new resources to provide to schools on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide in-house early childhood expertise to Fight For Children for internal work as well as external programming;
Lead school leadership professional development workshops on a variety of early childhood development and education topics;
Mentor school leaders at a large group of participating Joe's Champs schools on a monthly basis to ensure that schools are putting the information they learn from the Joe's Champs curriculum into practice;
Manage other contracted school mentors to ensure normed practices across participating school sites;

Build relationships with DC Public Schools and public charter schools to assist in meeting annual recruitment targets for the program;
Write, refine, and implement the Joe's Champs early childhood program curriculum for school leaders;
Develop workshop content for large, DC-wide early childhood education conference sessions; and
Build external relationships in the Washington, DC early childhood education community and represent Fight for Children at industry meetings and events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership and Administration, Curriculum and Instruction). Master's degree preferred.
A deep commitment to early childhood education in Washington, DC.
A track record of leadership in early childhood education, taking initiative, and relentlessly pursuing results. Three to five years of early childhood teaching, coaching or program administration experience.
Dynamic trainer with experience designing and facilitating professional development sessions for adult learners.
Self-starter with strong problem solving skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and positive attitude.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of audiences.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
