[YEP-DC] New blog post! "Greenhouses, Gardens, and Baby Grand Pianos: New State of Affairs in DCPS"

Rachel Skerritt spent her entire professional career climbing the ranks in Boston Public Schools, from teacher to principal to chief of staff. It was home, and it was a nurturing place that groomed her to be a successful educator. So why, in 2010, did she leave that high-performing urban school district to lead turnaround efforts at Eastern Senior High School in D.C.? "The biggest challenge that I have faced in D.C. has been my greatest joy: re-launching Eastern with just a ninth grade and adding a grade each year," Skerritt says. "It creates a constant feeling of building a plane as you're flying it, but that feeling is truly exhilarating."
