[YEP-DC] Education Policy Fellowship Program - Professional Development Opportunity - Sept 6 Deadline

Dear YEP-DC Member:

The Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) is now recruiting participants for the 50th class of the Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) at its Washington, DC site (DC-EPFP)!  EPFP is a professional development program for individuals whose work record reflects strong leadership abilities and a concern for issues important to children and education.  I am writing to encourage your or the participation of one or more of your most promising professional colleagues.  Attached is an informational brochure about the program.  Applications are being accepted through September 6th; the application can be downloaded from IEL's web site using the following URL: http://www.iel.org/epfp/_assets/documents/applications/state/dc_epfp_application.doc.

One of the greatest strengths of the DC-EPFP is the outstanding quality of its Fellows — individuals working in key organizations in the metropolitan area.  Since its inception, the DC site has capitalized on the area's wealth of resources and given Fellows unparalleled opportunities to develop and refine their leadership skills, understanding of public policy processes, and an expanded network of colleagues.  EPFP will add value to your organization because, by having staff in the program, you will gain:

  • Access to a professional program with a proven track record;
  • Better informed, more skillful staff who understand policy making and interconnections of education with other sectors;
  • Staff equipped to make dynamic, research-based contributions to education policy and practice;
  • Staff who are prepared to assume greater leadership responsibilities;
  • Staff who are aware of their personal leadership preferences and are developing leadership skills; and
  • Expanded professional networks that enhance your organization's ability to access key leaders and decision makers who shape policy on behalf of children and youth.

There are more than 900+ DC-EPFP alumni in the DC metropolitan area.  Without question EPFP is helping to prepare individuals who can address the systemic challenges that impede better outcomes for all children and youth.

I hope you will consider applying to participate in DC-EPFP this program year and share this information with a promising professional colleague.  Please don't hesitate to contact me at dahlshae@aol.com or Stefani Wilcox, National EPFP Program Coordinator, at Wilcoxs@iel.org or 202-822-8405 ext. 135 if you have any questions or need additional information.

Sincerely,

Dahlia Shaewitz, EPFP Co-Coordinator
