[YEP-DC] SPRING INTERNSHIPS - Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DC)

Overview:

As the organization responsible for developing and implementing a high-quality continuum of educational opportunities for District residents from birth to age 24, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) plays a unique and dynamic role in the District of Columbia's education landscape.  More specifically, DME is responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of all public education and education-related policies in the District and, as such, has three major functions:
  • Overseeing a city-wide education strategy;
  • Managing interagency and cross-sector coordination;
  • Providing oversight and/or support for the following education-related agencies
    o DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR)
    o DC Public Library (DCPL)
    o DC Public Schools (DCPS)
    o Office of the State Superintendent for Education (OSSE)
    o Public Charter School Board (PCSB)
    o University of the District of Columbia (UDC)
DME offers an exciting and fast-paced environment for aspiring leaders to hone their skills in, and grow their knowledge of education policy, law, and administration.  To support these roles, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) is currently seeking qualified graduate and law students for its semester-long education policy and legal internship programs.
