Overview of the Office of Teaching and Learning
The mission of the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) is to deliver high-quality instructional resources, enhance classroom practice and scale effective programs to increase DCPS student achievement, and prepare all students for success in college, career and life. OTL's four core competencies include curriculum, professional learning, enrichments and interventions, and formative assessment. The main work streams span literacy and humanities; STEM; instructional coaching; advanced instruction; educational technology and library media services; and PE, health, music, arts, and world languages.

Directory, Secondary Literacy – Application Link
- Salary: $91,903 to $103,718, commensurate with experience and salary history
- Reports to: Corinne Colgan, Deputy Chief, Literacy & Humanities
- Size of Team Managed by this Person: 5 FTEs
- Desired Start Date: ASAP
The Director, Secondary Literacy is responsible for using his/her expertise in Secondary ELA curriculum and instruction to assist with the management of key secondary literacy initiatives and the development of engaging curriculum and effective professional development. S/he manages a subset of the team in working towards the goals of the Office
Specialist, Reading Interventions – Application Link
- Salary: $71,434 to $78,311, commensurate with experience and salary history
- Reports to: Corinne Colgan, Deputy Chief, Literacy & Humanities
- Desired Start Date: ASAP
The Specialist, Reading Interventions is responsible for monitoring the implementation of district-wide reading programs and interventions, which includes but is not limited to Read 180 NG and System 44. The Specialist will collaborate with schools to support use of these reading programs in their classrooms, and provide professional development to teachers and school leaders around the individual programs.
Specialist, Secondary Math Curriculum – Application Link

- Reports to: David Goodrich, Director, Mathematics
- Desired Start Date: ASAP
The Secondary Math Curriculum Specialist is responsible for using his/her expertise in secondary (primarily high school) mathematics content and instruction to assist with the development of engaging curriculum, inspiring instruction, effective intervention, and enrichment strategies for DCPS schools.
