[YEP-DC] Seeking Applications: DC OSSE State Advisory Committee on Language Instruction for English Language Learners and Immigrant Students (Title IIIA)

Dear Potential Members of the DC OSSE State Advisory Committee (ESEA Title IIIA):

Per the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is required to ensure that children who are limited English proficient (LEPs), including immigrant students are provided with high-quality instructional programs designed to prepare them to enter all-English instruction settings.  To achieve this goal, OSSE is updating the membership of its State Title III Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee will support OSSE in carrying out its responsibilities under the ESEA for the District of Columbia.

The OSSE is seeking a variety of applicants for membership to ensure that different stakeholders are represented. These include: LEA and school administrators, teachers, parents, and other members of community organizations. The OSSE requests that you consider applying to the State Title III Advisory Committee and distribute this application form widely to other potential interested individuals.

All application and information materials can be found at the OSSE website here, including the benefits and responsibilities of becoming an advisory member.  Completed applications (2 pages) must be submitted, accompanied by a current resumé electronically to osse.title3@dc.gov (Subject Line: STAC Application).

The deadline for the submission of applications is Friday, January 16, 2015.

The first meeting for all individuals selected to serve on the State Title III Advisory Committee will be on Wednesday, January 21, from 4:00 to 6:30PM at 810 First Street NE, 8th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20002.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Bryan Sebobo at bryan.sebobo@dc.gov.  Thank you very much for sharing these documents and encouraging individuals to apply.

Sincerely,

Bryan Sebobo
