The Global Young Leaders Conference New York City Cultural Add-On
The Global Young Leaders Conference introduces high-achieving high school students from around the world to the field of international relations and explores cross-cultural communication. After an extensive, curriculum-focused ten day session that travels from Washington DC to New York City, students have the opportunity to attend a four day NYC cultural add-on. This cultural add-on includes site seeing visits to some of the most famous and popular New York City locations, including the Empire State Building, Central Park, and the American Museum of Natural History, as well as visits to local colleges.
Faculty Advisor
The Faculty Advisor is responsible for providing the best experience possible for all participants of the program as they accompany students on visits throughout New York City. The Faculty Advisor must be able to interact with and supervise students and to provide for their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities include:
• Supervising an assigned group of 20-25 high school honor students.
• Accompany group on all outings on cultural site seeing tours around New York City.
• Prepare students for each day's activities.
• Provide supervision and accountability for students.
• Be knowledgeable of all program rules and regulations, as provided during training.
• Responsible for providing the best experience possible for all program participants.
• Perform other duties as determined by the program leadership.
Additional Job Requirements
• Interest in or knowledge of program topic and the greater New York City area.
• Experience and/or interest in working with students.
• A high energy level, flexibility and the ability to work extended days and hours.
• Ability to reside at the conference site.
• Attend a mandatory paid training session prior to the first conference session.
• Pass a mandatory criminal background check.
• Hold valid driver's license with good driving background and experience with city driving.
Remuneration: On average, staff members will make $125 per day based on an hourly rate. Staff members are compensated for their training.
Dates: The program runs six sessions during June, July, and August, and takes place Wednesdays-Saturdays.
