The Accountant is the individual responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization. Specific responsibilities include AP, AR, managing vendor relationships, overseeing the procurement process, payroll entry through online payroll service, and financial reporting. This individual will report to the Director of Finance and work closely with the Business Managers at each of our campuses and our external accounting firm.
Essential Job Functions:
Implement all bookkeeping and accounting functions for Cesar Chavez
• accounts receivable, accounts payable, and journal entries
• bank reconciliations
• processing of credit card statements
• bank deposits
• monthly/annual close and production of internal financial reports
Oversee day-to-day operations of key internal financial processes
• procurement process including managing public bids and vendor relationships
• reporting on actual spending against operating budgets and fielding budget manager questions re: spending to date/available funds
• biweekly payroll entry through ADP system
• asset inventory processes
Responsible for financial reporting required by various external constituencies
• Lead annual financial and A-133 audit
• Reimbursement requests related to public funding
• Produce financial reports required by private foundation and bank supporters
• Produce financial reports required for charter board
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of three years of accounting experience
• Nonprofit experience preferred
• Familiarity with Peachtree and Anybill preferred
• Familiarity with online payroll system
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to plan, implement and balance multiple projects while performing at a high level in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Flexibility and adaptability with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate large responsibility and shifting priorities
