[dcab-l] Jam on Saturday, June 22. Bull Run Bluegrass Music Association

Ok, this is the REAL notice.

There will be a jam at the Hailey Farm on June 22. (Directions below.)

An open slow jam will be held at 2:00 p.m. and an open standard jam at 3:00 p.m.

THE SLOW JAM at 2:00 p.m.: Steve Potter (guitar, mandolin, harmonica and the kitchen sink) expects to be there specifically to work with groupings of the same instrument. Beginners and near beginners on a specific instrument will find out what they are supposed to be doing during the jam. Other experienced jammers will also be present to do the same (probably Mike Thomas, John Burton, Ed Gordon, Danny Felton, Amy Tobias and Bruce Gair).

Beginners! Look at this as a FREE LESSON! Get your questions answered in this "hands on session". Go on YouTube and check out "Bury Me Beneath the Willow", "Roll In MY Sweet Baby's Arms", "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", "I'll Fly Away", "Don't Call My Name" as examples of what you might be working with. These are 3-chord tunes - - G, C and D.  And stick around for the standard jam!

We need to get the "newbies" up and running!  Anyone who attended the recent slow jam at the Contemporary Music Center knows what this experience can do for his or her confidence.

THE STANDARD JAM at 3:00 p.m.: The standard jam is a free open jam sponsored by the Bull Run Bluegrass Music Association with the cooperation of the Contemporary Music Center in Haymarket.  Jam circles for all levels.  Attendance has been from 10 (in bad weather) up to 23 (in good weather). We now have doubled the mailing list so, hopefully, we will draw greater attendance.

We will run until about 6:00 p.m. Yes, you can bring treats!!

Directions:  6206 Covey Road, Warrenton, VA.  BUT it is not in Warrenton.  The farm is located near the intersection of Rt. 29 and Vint Hill Road about 5 miles west of Gainesville and I-66.  Going west from Gainesville, take 29 through its intersection with Rt. 15 and farther to just past the signal at Vint Hill Road.  In about 200 yards take a right on Pilgrim's Rest.  1/4 mile to Covey Rd on the right at the "Quail Trail".development. 1/2 mile on Covey Road to a pond.  Very hard left into an asphalt driveway.  Go left of the garage and park in the grassy area.
