Imagine Hope Community Charter School-Lamond (IHCCS)
POSITION
The Principal of Imagine Hope Community Charter School's Lamond campus will have the chance to lead a unique public charter school in Northeast Washington, DC that serves 360 students in grades Pre-K to 6. This is a career building opportunity for a proven academic leader to enhance the trajectory of a school.
Founded in 2007, the Lamond campus is one of two Imagine Hope Community Charter Schools serving students from all parts of Washington, DC at two campuses in the northeast quadrant of the city. The mission of Imagine Hope Community Charter School is to "shape the hearts and minds of our students positively, by providing them with an academically rigorous, content rich curriculum, an environment in which character is modeled and promoted, and a community in which to build trusting relationships with others."
The Principal of the Lamond campus will work in close collaboration with the Principal from Imagine Hope Community Charter School's Tolson campus to implement the school's mission and philosophy. The school's philosophy includes:
Content - Rich Curriculum: Through the adoption of the Core Knowledge sequence, we provide students with an integrated educational approach that places a heavy emphasis on the arts, music, and literature, in addition to the core subjects that are traditionally covered.
A Culture that Shapes Character: We consciously work to nurture the character of each student through a staff that teaches and models excellence and the establishment of character-forming rituals and traditions.
Meaningful Community: We teach students the importance of community by working alongside parents/guardians and community members in pursuit of our mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PRINCIPAL
While reporting to the Regional Director of Imagine Schools, the Principal will assume full responsibility for all aspects of the school's program, including curriculum and instruction, professional development, discipline and student support services, and general day-to-day business operations. As the academic leader of the school, the principal's primary focus will be on creating and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence through engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead a dynamic professional learning community that embraces accountability and outstanding student results;
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and instructional program in pursuit of student academic growth;
- Work with leadership and faculty to ensure that the school meets federal and state requirements;
- With the support of key staff, implement and administer the assessment system and equip staff to use student performance data to set achievement targets, strengthen instruction and improve student outcomes;
- Analyze school assessment data (external and internal) to make academic and programmatic decisions and to plan with the school's staff and community to set ambitious school, classroom, and individual student goals;
- Work cooperatively with leadership to coach, supervise and evaluate staff through informal classroom visits, regular classroom observations, pre and post observation conferences, lesson plan review, and a written evaluation for each instructional staff member;
- Design, deliver, and evaluate research-based professional development for all staff that fosters improved student achievement, developmentally appropriate instructional approaches, using data to strengthen student performance, positive school climate, and productive staff morale;
- Recruit, hire, and strategically assign, and retain exceptional teachers and staff;
- Communicate the message of standards-driven teaching and learning to parents/guardians, business partners, staff, and students;
- Establish and maintain strong school/community relations through communication, outreach, and collaboration;
- Stay abreast of research and national trends in order to continue personal professional development;
- Participate in Imagine Schools network professional learning communities, sharing groups and trainings;
- Oversee the school's compliance with external parties including the Public Charter School Board (PCSB), Office of the State Superintendent (OSSE), IMAGINE Regional Office, and all federal and local policies and laws;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

5. Positive Character Development- Consistently integrating and evaluating character development in the lives of students and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- An advanced degree in K-12 school administration, curriculum & instruction or a related field with strong academic preparation;
- At least three years of school-level or district level leadership experience with a record of improving student achievement results in an early childhood learning environment;
- A minimum of three to five years of full-time classroom teaching experience;
- A performance- and results-driven approach to school leadership and student outcomes;
- Experience coaching a school staff to excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement;
- Comfort synthesizing and prioritizing data to solve problems and develop strategies to achieve ambitious academic goals;
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and analytic skills;
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills and a strong comfort level in public forums;
- Ability to establish a team-building, facilitative rapport with peers, staff, students, parents and external stakeholders;
- Experience with managing fiscal and human resources in a school capacity;
- Experience with local, state, and federal compliance;
- A demonstrated passion for advancing educational opportunities in low-income communities –extensive knowledge of the charter school movement, while extremely valuable, is not required for this position.
