[YEP-DC] Hiring: Principal and After Care Teacher

Principal needed for a new school of two classrooms (Primary and Elementary). Applicant must be willing to be a team player and work with other teachers in a cooperative setting. 

Applicants should be bilingual, possess a college degree, a US-recognized Montessori teaching credential, and five or more years of experience in a Montessori environment. 

Principal will play a vital role in the effectiveness and vitality of the dual-immersion, faith-based, Montessori program. It is his or her role to lead faculty, parents, and children to a common understanding: a common vision of the program's purpose and mission for children and the larger community. Duties include, but not limited to: managing day-to-day school operations, recruit students and staff, support staff professional development and student education, communicate with all stakeholders, and work with staff to develop and implement quality, dual-immersion, Montessori and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curriculum, instruction, and assess quality. Additionally the Principal will need to manage Waterfront Academy aftercare and 3rd party aftercare programs.

Waterfront Academy is a dual-immersion (Spanish and English) faith-based Montessori school with emphasis on charity and stewardship in the Catholic tradition. It started in 2013 and has been operating as a school since 2014. We serve children and families from 18 month through middle school through our school and programming.

After Care teacher

This is a great opportunity to share your love for the Spanish language and work with children on a part-time basis.  

Basic Qualifications:
• Bilingual, Spanish and English (Native Spanish speaker preferred)
• Meet OSSE requirements to work in a child development center, preferred
• Understanding of the Montessori Curriculum and culture of independence and mutual respect
• Work with students of various abilities, including those with various exceptionalities
• Work in a multicultural, bilingual environment
• Meet health requirements, including immunizations and a complete TB test screening
• Submit necessary documents for completed personnel file (ex.references, fingerprinting and clearance forms)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
• Be responsible for the welfare, safety and educational achievements of students
• Collaborate with others to high quality care
• Maintain and manage a positive learning environment
• Participate in meetings, trainings and/or planning cooperatives
• Understand the school's mission and objectives and comply with policies
• Be available to assist with support duties
