About the Data Quality Campaign
The Data Quality Campaign (DQC) is one of the country's leading education advocacy organizations, with a 10-year track record of success and a growing, talented staff headquartered in Washington, DC. DQC is a national, nonprofit, advocacy organization that believes that when students, parents, educators, and policymakers have the right information to guide their actions, student achieve their best. To realize this vision, DQC works toward three goals:
1. Increase public understanding of the value of education data.
2. Ensure that everyone with a stake in education has timely access to the right information.
3. Improve the capacity of and conditions for teachers and school leaders to use data.
If you care passionately about making sure everyone with a stake in education has the right information to guide their actions so students achieve their best, DQC is the place for you.
Position Summary
The communications intern will work closely with DQC's Strategic Communications team, assisting in both day-to-day and long-term projects. The communications intern will also be given the opportunity to work on an independent project that meets his or her own interests as well as those of DQC. This internship is an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in strategic communications and education policy. Interns in this position should expect to develop their communication, organizational, and leadership skills, as well as gain experience in a professional environment. Interns will develop a unique perspective in education policy, focusing on the importance of using robust data to improve student achievement.
The policy intern will work closely with DQC's Policy and Advocacy team to assist in its day-to-day and long-term projects. The intern will also be given the opportunity to work on an independent project that meets his or her own interests as well as those of DQC. This internship is an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in local, state, and federal education policy. Interns in this position should expect to develop their communication, organizational, and leadership skills, as well as obtain experience in a professional environment and gain a unique perspective in education policy, focusing on the effective use of data to improve student achievement.
DQC is seeking part-time or full-time candidates able to work 15–30 hours a week at DQC's office in downtown Washington, DC. Expected start date is September 8, 2015, and end date is December 18, 2015. There may be some flexibility in these dates.
