About Creative Minds International PCS

Creative Minds International Public Charter School (CMIPCS) is a tuition-free school for DC public school students. The school will be located in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington D.C., at 3700 North Capital Street, NW, beginning in August 2015. The program serves students in grades pre-school through fifth grade, with the goal of expanding to include a middle school in the year 2016-17.

 

CMIPCS offers a highly engaging, international curriculum with project- and arts-based activities that foster creativity, self-motivation, social and emotional development, and academic excellence. [YEP-DC] Free PARCC Professional Development Series for DC Educator and Administrators

PARCC Professional Development Series for Educators and Administrators


The DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is offering a series of free professional development on PARCC entitled: "Preparing for Assessments with Strengthened Supports (P.A.S.S.) PARCC Trainings." 

 

This series is a combination of in-person trainings, webinar instruction, and webinar Q&A sessions, and is free to all educators and administrators in the District of Columbia.  To learn more about these trainings, including registration links, please visit: http://osse.dc.gov/page/preparing-assessments-strengthened-supports-pass-parcc-training.  Trainings start next week and last through March.

 

Dates, times, topics and registration links are also included in the table below for all in-person sessions.

Job Purpose

 

The Selection Officer supports our Selection Team in reading and processing application materials to efficiently and effectively select students that are a strong fit for American Honors, resulting in an academically bright and diverse cohort. Specifically, this person assists in the application review process: reading applications, processing transcripts/SAT scores, and recommending students for admission.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

     Apply a holistic mindset when evaluating applications.

     Make admission recommendations for applicants

     Process student documents (data entry): transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, etc.

     Assist in a "completion check" of applications, to make sure all required documents are submitted.

     Manage transcript requests between the applicant, high schools, community college, and the Regional Admissions Counselors.

     Make admission recommendations for applicants

     Collaborate with Regional Admissions Counselors in processing admissions materials from field events.

 

 

 

 

Required Skills and Attributes

 

     1-3 years of work with college students or college-bound students, ideally in an admissions setting (preferred).

     Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.

     Highly detail-oriented with a healthy sense of caution around handling sensitive student records.

     Commitment to reflecting on practices to make efficiency improvements.

     Commitment to follow directions with precision when required.

     Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.

     Strong organizational skills.

     Salesforce experience a plus.

 

Qualifications

 

     Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

     Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.

     Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM system is preferred.

 

 

Job Duration and Compensation

 

This position is a full time (Monday - Friday) seasonal (February - August) role. The ideal candidate will be available to work in our Washington, DC office throughout the peak season (February - August), with possibility for extension based on business needs and performance. Compensation will commensurate with experience.
