[dcab-l] Love Song: "Summertime Love" from the Celtic tune "South Wind"

Bluegrassers:

Tomorrow, June 21, 2013, is the 1st day of Summer.

At summer’s start, I am sending you my composition

"Summertime Love", with harmony by my "All Mixed Up"

partner Barry Wendell.   This cut was recorded at Micah

Solomon’s sound studio “Oasis” in College Park somewhere

in the early 90s.

“Summertime Love” is actually based on the poignant Celtic tune

“South Wind”, which I slightly rearranged for this song.  Apparently,

South Wind air was written in the 1700s by "Freckled Donal Macnamara"

in homesickness for his homeland in County Mayo.  When I wrote

this song, I had no idea there were words to this tune; I simply wrote

my own words, based on the tune, and have sung it for years, even

at my wedding.

This recording not only includes a lead guitar, but also an a cappella

section.

Start you summer off with this version of "Summertime Love".  To listen,
