Organization:     Corporation for Public Broadcasting
Location:              Washington, DC

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967. The mission of CPB is to facilitate the development of, and ensure universal access to, non-commercial high-quality programming and telecommunications services.  The Corporation is public broadcasting's largest single source of funds for analog and digital program development and production. CPB also funds more than 1,000 local public radio and television stations across the country.

The Corporation is accountable to the public for investing its funds in programs and services that are educational, innovative, locally relevant and reflective of America's common values and cultural diversity. The Corporation serves as a catalyst for innovation in the public broadcasting industry, and acts as a guardian of the mission and purposes for which public broadcasting was established.

The Public Media Executive Fellowship Program is designed to provide a college graduate from an economically disadvantaged background with an interest in public media an opportunity to learn and broaden their background with direct work experience in the public broadcasting community.  This program, not to exceed 18 months in duration, provides employment of an Executive Fellow, selected by CPB's executive team, at CPB.  The fellowship period will begin with an assignment of 3 months to the Executive Office, reporting directly to CPB's President and Chief Executive Officer.  Following this initial assignment, the Executive Fellow will be assigned to work in other CPB departments or other public broadcasting affiliated entities in the Washington, DC area.  Salary and benefits will be funded by CPB during the program.  At the conclusion of the Fellowship Program, the incumbent will be eligible to apply for vacant positions at CPB.  Continued employment beyond the 18 month period is not guaranteed, and if selected for a position at CPB, the salary paid to the incumbent may be less than the level paid during the Fellowship Program.   As an "at will" employer, CPB recognizes that the fellow retains the option, as does the Corporation, of ending their employment with CPB at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause.
