[YEP-DC] KIPP DC is looking for an IT Support Manager

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The IT Support Manager is responsible for administering network services and managing technical support resources for KIPP DC.  S/he manages the implementation and maintenance of all technology infrastructure including network/server/workstation maintenance and troubleshooting, problem resolution, connectivity and information security. S/he is the main point of contact for maintenance providers and vendors. This position will be a critical part of the Operations team, and will work closely with our school leaders and headquarters staff. This position will report to the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.     Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Oversee server administration and network troubleshooting, including:
    • Administering AD user accounts
    • Configuring file and folder permissions as needed
    • Administering DHCP, DNS or any other network service as needed
    • Maintain network design documents
    • Reviewing server logs and following up on any critical items
  • Manage routers, firewalls, switches, wireless access points
  • Create and maintain workstation images
  • Monitor  technology purchasing to ensure best pricing and service
  • Ensure physical and data security (backups) of servers and workstations
  • Assist with E-Rate application and implementation process
  • Establish policies and procedures and publish user friendly communication tools for day-to-day activities (staff/student how-to's, security, acceptable use agreements, disaster recovery, etc.)

 

B.     Help Desk Coordination

  • Process incoming support requests including assignment of priority level, due date and technician
  • Ensure requests are completed within the response and resolution timeframes established by KIPP DC's IT service level agreement
  • Inform relevant staff of scheduled outages
  • Serve as main point of contact for school leaders in the event of critical/unscheduled outages

 

C.      Technology Project Management

  • Monitor outsourced technology providers to ensure the timely completion of day-to-day support activities, as well as the completion of information technology projects and long-term goals
  • Develop schedules and milestones to track the progress of information technology projects identified in the annual and long-term technology plans
  • Provide reports and documentation as needed on information technology projects
  • Assess and recommend technology and consultant solutions
  • Ensure smooth integration of new technologies into KIPP DC's IT environment

 

 

Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC's staff, including accompanying students on field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of KIPP DC's mission.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Technical depth

·        Minimum 5-7 years in the IT industry, preferably with experience in an educational institution

·        Previous experience managing data networks, voice (VoIP) networks and multiple sites

·        Background managing Windows 2003 servers and databases with Windows clients

 

Communications and teamwork skills

·        Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence, initiative, and leadership skills

·        Talent for working productively with a diverse range of people

·        Ability to present solutions to staff in non-technical jargon

 

Project management expertise and the ability to get things done

·        Outstanding project management and organizational skills, and extraordinary attention to detail

·        Track record of achievement in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and high degree of ambiguity

·        Exceptional work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple priorities

 

Other skills and traits

·        Bachelor's Degree required

·        Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission

·        Passion for education and a desire to help KIPP DC schools grow
