Science Instructional Lead Teachers Position Description:
Teach
- Teach 3 courses. Have model classrooms that other teachers can observe and learn from.
- Team teach with struggling teachers
Curriculum
- Facilitate weekly meetings and monthly professional development with their departments.
- Lead department to reflect on and improve the curriculum as well as to examine data and create lesson plans to address weaknesses.
- Facilitate the creation of a 4 year vertical alignment curriculum documents
- Ensure curriculum documents are posted on the H-Drive by established due dates. These documents include weekly lesson plans, quarterly scope and sequence documents and quarterly exams
- Review and provide feedback on curriculum documents.
- Review interim assessments to ensure they are rigorous and aligned to the state standards.
- Collaborate with other leaders to ensure there is literacy across the curriculum as well as a meaningful integration of Public Policy.
- Ensure all department members have the necessary curriculum resources
- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum to evaluate the progress of scope and sequence implementation, review midterm and final assessments and to identify curriculum resources to support students' learning
Data Analysis
- Use exit tickets, weekly quizzes, unit assessments and interims to analyze data.
- Coach teachers to use data to modify their practice in order to increase student achievement.
- Conduct quarter analysis of the data. Create plans to address gaps with the school's leadership
- Conduct analysis of DCCAS and Scantron data when available
Coaching
- Provide individual and course team coaching for teachers. Coach approximately 2 teachers per cycle (based on need) – approximately 3-4 weeks.
- Conduct daily 4-7 minute walkthroughs on each teacher within the department
- Produce quarterly instructional progress reports
- Monitor and document teacher progress.
- Review lesson plans and materials and provide feedback.
- Engage in mentor teacher coaching sessions with DPI
Leadership
- Provide input and support to the school's leadership.
- Serve as the primary administrator over the department's budget
