BUILD is an innovative, highly successful college preparation program whose mission is to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success. BUILD is an innovative four-year business development program for under-resourced, under-represented high school students, which bridges the divide between youth and the business and intellectual resources of the DC Area. 100% of BUILD graduates have been accepted to college – a result that is only possible due to the amazing mentors who work with their students. Being a BUILD mentor is a chance to truly connect to your community. While mentoring a youth business team puts you in a position to make a real difference in the lives of some very talented and entrepreneurial teenagers, you'll also be joining a diverse team of highly motivated local professionals. BUILD has launched its mentor recruiting efforts for the 2012-2013 school year and needs to recruit new mentors at our business incubator. Volunteer mentors work with BUILD staff and teachers to supplement learning and serve as additional role models. Mentors also work with BUILD 10
th and 11th graders who have completed E1 to actually launch their enterprises. As seniors, students wind down their businesses and focus on college admissions. Through its innovative combination of entrepreneurial skills-building, academic intervention and personal support, BUILD is changing the life trajectories of some of DC's most disadvantaged youth. · Upcoming volunteer opportunities (along with key dates)
