[BloomingdaleActionList] PSC hearing results

Bloomingdale neighbors -

Many of you are aware, from Bloomingdale Civic Association meetings, ANC5C meetings, and neighborhood discussions, that neighbors on North Capitol had applied for a curb cut on S Street.

A meeting of the Public Space Committee was held this morning and the committee unanimously voted to deny the application. The members were very concerned about the loss of two parking spaces, the loss of the tree and tree box,  and a change to the character of a  block that does not have  a curb cut. One member mentioned that the existing curb cuts on other blocks were a good example of why they didn't like curb cuts and the PSC did not want to set a precedent for the unit  block of S Street.

Our neighborhood is changing rapidly, and parking is just one problem that we face. (One course of action to improve the  parking situation  may be to ask DDOT for a comprehensive parking study.) I hope that we can all work together in the future to get as much information as we can about  shared concerns and search for ways to improve these issues for our great neighborhood.
