Title: Program Coordinator, K-12 Education Programs

Reports to: Director of K-12 Education Programs

Job Summary: The program coordinator is an important part of The Philanthropy Roundtable's service to K-12 education philanthropists. This person is responsible for much of the K-12 team's research, resource-creation, and logistical efforts, and will assist with all K-12 philanthropy events. With time and proven ability, this role will grow to include responsibilities for marketing and communications efforts, including the development and dissemination of print and electronic publications, website content, meeting summaries and research reports related to K-12 education philanthropy. This position will offer the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to learn about education reform and philanthropy.

 Job Duties:

 Research and analysis:

  • Assist K-12 education team in preparing research and resources for events and strategic working groups
  • Create customized donor memos related to K-12 education reform and philanthropy
  • Update and expand existing donor resources 
  • Fact-check and improve materials produced by the K-12 education team. This may include invitations, marketing pieces, guidebooks, meeting summaries, and event materials

Event support:

  • Coordinate event preparation for K-12 education meetings, including printing, shipping, donor materials, and pre-event checklists
  • Assist in event logistics for K-12 education meetings, including registration and speaker coordination
  • Aid The Roundtable events team with other tasks as needed at K-12 meetings
  • Interact with high-level philanthropists and foundation staff in a professional, customer-service oriented manner

Communications (writing, editing, and marketing):

  • Produce, maintain, and communicate content for the K-12 portion of The Philanthropy Roundtable website, in collaboration with the Roundtable's publications team
  • Work closely with the director and deputy director to develop the K-12 program's marketing and communications strategy
  • Produce marketing materials, session descriptions, invitations and meeting summaries for K-12 education events, in coordination with the K-12 director and deputy director. This may include proofreading, editing, and content review assignments
  • Assist in the conceptual framing of meetings, initiatives, and sessions

Skill Factors:

  • This position requires a candidate with a customer-service attitude suited to working with highly successful business leaders and philanthropists
  • The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, excel at multitasking, and be very attentive to detail. He/she should also enjoy working in a fast-paced and cyclical working environment
  • The successful candidate will display creative visual layout and design abilities, and command basic proficiency with graphics, spreadsheets, databases, and data display
  • The successful candidate will have strong computer skills and demonstrate proficiency in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint. Additionally, the ideal candidate will know or show ease in learning Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
  • The ideal candidate will be an avid learner excited to build a wide base of knowledge about K-12 reform and philanthropy in a short amount of time

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Location: Washington, D.C.
  • Display an interest in and knowledge of K-12 education reform, as well as The Roundtable's K-12 goals and objectives
  • Understand and support The Philanthropy Roundtable's mission and vision to serve philanthropists
  • 0-2 years work experience, with at least a basic background knowledge of K-12 education
  • Willingness to travel domestically (2-3 weeks/yr)

This position provides a salary commensurate with experience and an exceptional benefits package.
