Ensuring that all U.S. students graduate from high school prepared for success in college, careers and life has become the battle cry of education advocates across our nation. An important goal in all our shared efforts is motivating students to envision a meaningful future for themselves. No amount of support or intervention can succeed without students themselves believing in opportunity and understanding their role in the academic course they chart.
To that end, Achieve, with funding from the GE Foundation, plans to produce a video series to capture the voices of today's student population. We need your help identifying students who are articulate and able to share their thoughts and experiences in videotaped interviews to take place on Thursday, June 21, and Friday, June 22, at Videofiles production studios in Arlington, Va. We will need approximately one hour of their time to conduct the interview.
We are seeking the following types of students or young adults:
- Rising seniors with at least one AP course completed;
- Rising seniors working with a tutor and/or mentor;
- Recent high school graduates about to enter college
- College students who are taking/took remedial coursework;
- Recent college graduates; and
- Rent high school graduates now in the workforce.
Subjects will be compensated for their time and we will acknowledge your support on our web site and in the video. Please email me at kblosveren@achieve.org letting us know if you would be able to help us in identifying subjects or if you have a young adult in mind, no later than Wednesday, June 13. We will then will follow up with you with more details.
Thanks in advance!
