[YEP-DC] Job Announcements: Lead Teacher (Social Studies or Science), Evening Adjunct Teachers, and Evening Program Manager at Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School

Lead Teacher (Social Studies or Science)

Social Studies Lead Teacher will be located at the Ward 5 site and must have content knowledge of:

  • The 11 GED Social Studies practices
  • Civics, government, US history, geography, and economics
  • Common Core/critical thinking teaching strategies 

Science Lead Teacher will be located at the Ward 8 site and must have content knowledge of:


  • The 8 GED Science practices
  • Earth, physical, life, and space sciences
  • Common Core/critical thinking teaching strategies 
  •  

    Position Overview:

    The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive, empowering learning environment for adult learners and delivering quality content area instruction in either STEM or Language Arts subjects, while also providing curriculum development, teacher coaching and professional development in his/her specific subject area at Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School.

     


    Adjunct Faculty -- Evening

    Position Overview:

    The contract adjunct teachers teach during the evening (6:00-9:30 pm) at our Ward 5 site (Rhode Island Ave NE).  STEM teachers teach Monday and Wednesday and Language Arts teachers teach Tuesday and Thursday.


    All teachers are responsible for creating a supportive, empowering learning environment for adult learners and delivering quality content area instruction.    

     



    Evening Program Manager

    Position Overview:

    The Evening Program Manager will be responsible for evening programming (6-9:30pm), but as 

    a full time employee will be scheduled for a 40-hour work week. 


    The Program Managers play a central role in coordinating Academy of Hope (AoH) programming 

    at their specified site (Ward 5 day, Ward 5 evening, Ward 8) by overseeing the daily academic 

    activities and cultivating the AoH community spirit among students, staff, and volunteers.
