Urban Teacher Center (UTC) is seeking a candidate to help build the first teacher preparation program in the nation that guarantees the effectiveness of its teachers. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Executive Director, any other Assistant Directors, and the site team to assist in the oversight of all aspects of implementing UTC's Washington, DC program. This position will play an instrumental role in ensuring the success of our current and future resident cohorts, and supporting the expansion of UTC's presence in the DC region. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Role and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director is responsible for meeting organizational goals in the areas of resident and fellow performance and retention, as well as in school and district satisfaction. The Assistant Director will work as part of a small team consisting of an Executive Director, several Assistant Directors, a Data and Assessment Coordinator, and a Program Associate and will team closely with the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development and the Director of Performance and Evaluation.
District and state relationships
· Support the Executive Director in developing and maintaining productive working relationships with school staff and other key stakeholders
· Support the Executive Director in ensuring annual placement targets are met through regular communication and progress reports
· Maintain UTC's DC license approval areas through data reporting and participation in district-‐sponsored events
· Identify opportunities with our partners for UTC to provide strategic support linked to our core vision, beyond programmatic goals
Team in support of program satisfaction
· Serve as part of a high-‐performing team that provides direct support to residents and fellows (teachers) in the region
· Provide the necessary support and professional development to ensure that UTC meets regional goals
Data collection
· Communicate with school-‐ and district-‐based partners about UTC's accountability expectations
· Work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Performance and Evaluation, and program staff to collect data from the field in support of all accountability gates
Cohort quality and relationships
· Execute the program across all goal areas, including UTC resident and teacher placement and support; host teacher selection and support; and principal communication
· Ensure excellent communications between residents, teachers, and UTC staff
· Address proactively all resident and teacher issues
· Conduct regular resident reviews and coordinate necessary support with the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development
· Provide regular opportunities for residents and teachers to come together in support of a cohort-‐wide vision and team
School-‐based implementation and relationships
· Serve as primary point person for a sub-‐set of residents and first year fellows, to school-‐ based staff, including principals, administrative leadership teams, lead host teachers, and host teachers in the DC region
· Serve as the primary point person for second and third year fellows, to school-‐based staff, including principals, administrative leadership teams, lead host teachers, and host teachers in DC region
· Develop UTC Alumni Network
· Partner with UTC's program team to ensure explicit expectations of all resident and teacher expectations
· Communicate effectively to ensure that school staff are fully aware and supportive of resident expectations; anticipate and address field-‐based issues with a high degree of responsiveness and follow-‐through
Team in support of resident recruitment, selection, and onboarding
· Partner with the Executive Director and recruitment team in resident recruitment efforts
· Participate fully in resident selection days
· Partner with the Executive Director and Director of Human Capital to ensure a smooth resident transition to the region and in attainment of resident retention goals
Stakeholder engagement
· Meet semi-‐annually with a regional advisory board that ensures ongoing buy-‐in of UTC's core programmatic and policy efforts and increases UTC's stakeholder base of support throughout the region
· Participate in speaking engagements and other opportunities to expand UTC's presence in the region

Clinical Faculty Job Description
Urban Teacher Center (UTC) is a four-year teacher preparation program that includes a one-year residency. As part of the teacher preparation, UTC partners with Lesley University (Cambridge, MA) for the conferral of a Master's of Education degree. UTC is currently operating in two (2) sites – Washington DC and Baltimore. UTC places program participants in public charter schools and public schools in these regions, and is seeking adjunct faculty in the following disciplines:
- English Language Arts/ Literacy instruction (elementary and secondary);
- Special Education (elementary and secondary);
- K-5 mathematics;
- Elementary Social Studies
UTC adjunct faculty have practice-based responsibilities in the summer, fall, and spring. Adjuncts deliver coursework and provide coaching and mentoring support to program participants. The adjunct position entails non-traditional adjunct duties including coaching support during the school day. Position hours range from 20 to 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Adjuncts serve as faculty in support of a residency model of teacher preparation. Adjunct responsibilities include the following:
- Lead coursework for a group of 25 participants, including modeling best practices, providing ongoing written and verbal feedback, and incorporating technology into instructional delivery and assignments; and grading.
- Conduct ongoing observation and feedback sessions at participants' "host schools" (clinical sites);
- Mentor a subset of residents throughout the year;
- Maintain appropriate data on all residents, including (residents') student performance data;
- Contribute to a professional community of adjuncts, including posting work, uploading videos of course instruction, and teaming with other adjuncts in support of residents;
- Provide ongoing feedback on the quality of the curriculum and programmatic support;
- Participate in their own professional growth in collaboration with Lesley and UTC
Qualifications:
A graduate degree (M.A. or higher) related to education; experience in urban public education as a teacher, staff developer, and/or administrator; extensive knowledge of the content and pedagogical content knowledge in the relevant discipline; skills in group facilitation and mentoring; experience with problem-solving programs/ internship programs. · Oversee student test administration and coordination of all logistics including organization of assessment materials and scheduling
· Maintain all site-‐based data in electronic databases; monitor recordkeeping procedures and data files for accuracy
· Partner with UTC's Director of Performance and Evaluation and program staff to collect data from the field in support of all accountability gates
· Responsible for district and state level reports on performance
· Enter and retrieve data; analyze, create, and present program reports
· Assist in development, administration, and collection of surveys, forms, and questionnaires
· Manage the licensure process for all residents and teachers
· Develop calendar of data events for site
· Identify, train and support contractual test monitors
School-‐based implementation and relationships
· Partner with Executive Director and UTC's program team to ensure explicit expectations of all resident and teacher expectations
· Develop quality communications mechanisms to ensure that school staff are fully aware and supportive of resident expectations; anticipate and address field-‐based issues with a high degree of responsiveness and follow-‐through
· Manage resident and fellows termination and resignation protocols
Support resident recruitment, selection, and onboarding
· Provide support to Executive Director and Director of Human Capital in resident recruitment efforts
· Participate fully in phone and final interviews and career fairs.
· Partner with the Executive Director and Director of Human Capital to ensure a smooth resident transition to the region, and in attainment of resident retention goals
