[YEP-DC] Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia Seeking Volunteers

Hi all,

I work as the Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia (CISofNOVA) where my job is to reduce the dropout rate and increase the graduation rate at a high school in Arlington, VA. I am in need of volunteers to fill three volunteer roles. Please email me, Daphne Charles, at charlesd@cisofva.org, if interested in any role. Include a few words about your interest and please also attach your resume.

Wednesday Food Distribution Volunteer

Every week on Wednesday afternoons, we distribute free groceries to our students at school. We are in need of volunteers who might be available one or more Wednesdays between 1:15pm-3:40pm to help distribute groceries as well as to help with set up and breakdown. If you are only available 1:15pm-2:15pm or 2:15pm-3:40pm, that also would work well.

Tutor Volunteers

Daily, from 7:30am-3pm, we are in need of volunteers to help our students. If you are a Spanish speaker or are able to tutor math, that is a plus. Please also let me know if you know of organizations that might be interested in coming as a group. Daily, 12:30pm-1:20pm is the busiest time for tutoring.

CISofNOVA Intern

I'm looking for an individual interested in volunteering 5-10 hours a week between the hours of 7:30am-3p on site at my school location. The individual will be responsible for:

• Contacting community organizations for the coordination of programming and resources for students
• Interaction with CISofNOVA students in a group setting
• Data entry
• Volunteering at CISofNOVA events
