Years ago I came across a cassette tape of Dry Branch Fire Squad; it had a lullaby written by Ron Thomason entitled “Dak’s Song”. It was so lovely and heart-felt, I added it to my repertoire, and sang it to my son each and every night for years. (Woody is now 29).
At some point, Ron was teaching a guitar picking session at Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, and I asked him if his son’s name was “Dak”. He nodded “Yes”, but he had completely forgotten the song! (Imagine that!).
I mentioned singing it for my son, and asked him if I could change the name to “Woody’s Song”, to which he generously agreed; he energetically responded: “You can have any of my music you wish!” (Now there is a great artistic response!)
And so, here is a “love song lullaby” to Woody. To listen, just click the URL below:

As always, turn UP and try headphones!
