The Experiential Learning Manager develops and implements authentic, real world experiences that empower Chavez scholars. He/She will serve all four Chavez campuses as a member of the Public Policy Department and report to the Director of Public Policy and Curriculum Innovation.
Primary Accountabilities:
· Innovate to continuously improve and expand students' authentic, real world experiences
· Develop and manage relationships with key partners to create sustainable resources for advocacy projects and authentic performance tasks
· Support tangible efforts to increase students' development as public policy experts (e.g. public policy career days, assemblies, public policy-related clubs)
· Develop and deliver professional development modules on research-based experiential and empowering principles and strategies
· Refine the curriculum of end of year public policy courses and support teachers and leaders in implementation
· Identify and prepare host organizations for 11th grade internship program
· Gather feedback throughout the year on the authentic intellectual public policy performance tasks with a particular focus on making these tasks sustainable
· Support teachers and leaders in understanding and analyzing system-wide metrics, particularly student empowerment survey
· Incorporate current events into daily life of the school
Qualifications:
· Intellectual curiosity, love of reading, continuous improvement
· Commitment to research-based decision making
· Strong follow-through and ability to efficiently execute complex tasks
· Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
· Minimum of three years in education, project management, or public policy/affairs experience required; teaching experience preferred

The Curriculum Innovation Specialist is responsible for working with leaders and teachers on transforming a network of four schools to an empowering focus on higher-order thinking, critical thinking, and concept-based frameworks that increase in complexity through each grade level and transfer learning to authentic intellectual public policy projects. The Specialist will be a member of the Department of Public Policy and report to the Director of Public Policy. The Department serves as a catalyst for a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning that empowers students to narrow the gap between the promise of America's foundational ideals and the reality of their daily lives.
Primary Accountabilities:
· Support the refinement and implementation of a conceptually framed curriculum in Math and Science which teachers use to layer key disciplinary ideas with more complexity over time
· Support the construction of higher-order and critical thinking performance assessments for Math and Science
· Provide teachers with a roadmap for transforming their classrooms into intellectual centers through curriculum revision and introduction of advanced teaching strategies
· Assist teachers in igniting students' intellectual curiosity by making connections between core academic principles and real-world situations
· Design and lead professional development workshops, retreats and learning labs to deliver the vision that students of any age can affect social change through an empowering curriculum
· Collaborate with fellow members of the Public Policy Department on securing enough host organizations for students needing Fellowship and training and supporting members of the Chavez faculty on Public Policy courses(Capstone, Community Action Project, Fellowship, Interdisciplinary projects) by securing resources, explaining lesson plans, troubleshooting with teachers
· Bring resources to the schools (e.g. speakers, public policy materials) to help better integrate public policy into the curriculum and general life of the schools
· Support tangible efforts to increase public policy culture in the schools (e.g. co-curricular clubs, conferences, etc.)

· Bachelor's degree in education, math or science ; Master's degree preferred
