Overall Responsibility: Assist with project task and management activities through research, writing, and outreach to constituencies and clients, including the use of social media and other communications technologies for outreach and engagement.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Developing and writing client materials, including policy research and statements; informational, identity and promotional materials; and media, marketing and other outreach material
- Conducting research for various projects
- Assisting in managing client projects, events, budgets, and timelines
- Assisting in media outreach activities and pitch calling
- Assisting in social media and online communications planning and outreach
- Assisting in managing websites and the online presence of firm and clients
- Assisting in developing proposals for new business
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong writing and research skills
- Experience in communications and/or education and education policy, youth issues, or related field preferred; strong interest in these areas essential
- Managing website content and using social media tools and metrics
- Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, clients, and the public
- Ability to work successfully on multiple projects at the same time
- A high degree of self-motivation and ability to manage time effectively
- Knowledge of K-12 and higher education issues, policy, and trends a plus
- Knowledge of Web content management systems and/or constituent relationship management tools a plus
Requirements:
- Four-year college degree in social sciences, humanities, or communications, including some education and/or journalism studies or experience
- At least one year of experience in public affairs, public relations, communications, or journalism preferred
