Prevent summer learning loss! Tutor with FLOC this summer.
Nearly 75% of DC students perform at or below basic levels in reading and math. YOU can change that! For Love of Children's one-on-one tutoring program helps students achieve grade-level competency in reading and math. In just 22 hours of tutoring, students improve an average of 1 year in reading and math skills while gaining confidence in their abilities. Each new tutor allows us to impact the life of one more child. Training in our structured curricula and ongoing professional support from staff are provided, so no experience is necessary.
The program will run from June 25-August 2. Reading tutoring will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:45-8:15pm. Math tutoring will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 8:15pm. Both programs will be held at our Adams Morgan office at 1763 Columbia Road NW. Tutors commit to 2.5 hours twice a week. We need a total of 80-100 volunteers for the summer, and still have plenty of space—particularly in the math program.
Get started by completing an application online at www.floc.org or contacting Elizabeth Metz at emetz@floc.org or 202-349-3512. And consider inviting your friends and colleagues to join you! We hope you'll join us in our mission to teach, empower, and transform the lives of students in DC this year!
