YEP-DC Social Media Specialist

 

Job Specification

The YEP DC Social Media Specialist will implement the YEP DC's social media strategy, developing brand awareness, generating inbound traffic and encouraging programmatic involvement and interaction. This role coordinates with the programming and events teams to support their respective missions, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating a rich social media network that elevates the organization with existing and potential members. PLEASE NOTE: YEP-DC is volunteer-run organization. All YEP-DC positions are unpaid.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day presence on YEP-DC Facebook, seeding content as needed, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate. Duties include online advocacy, outreach efforts, promotions, etc.  Deliverables: 10-15 posts/week, or 2+ on weekdays. Promote all Recess blog activities and link to policy and practice content which data has shown to garner traction with members.
  • Implement social media strategies, coordinating with stakeholders across YEP to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Monitor analytic tools for measuring the impact of Facebook campaigns and general activity.  Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.  Deliverable: Quarterly (4 per year) Facebook analytics reports to leadership team. Reports should be descriptive and reflective.  They should help YEP evolve its SM strategies in a timely fashion.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios; personal use of social media platforms a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other volunteers when needed

Highly Preferred:

  • Photography/Video experience
  • Technical understanding of photography, ability to handle DSLR equipment and video editing software. Can pick up new tools quickly.
  • Ability to develop video footage for special projects and campaigns as needed.
