[YEP-DC] Inspired Teaching is hiring for early childhood educator as Manager, Teaching and Learning

Given the expansion of the Inspired Teacher Certification Program to include more partners, and next year's program focus on early childhood, Inspired Teaching is seeking a phenomenal new staff member to add to our teacher certification team. We're looking for a data-minded individual with preschool and preK experience

Job Description

The Manager, Teaching and Learning, will support all aspects of the Inspired Teacher Certification Program, including recruitment, selection, placement, coursework, mentoring, development and  program evaluation.  Inspired Teaching is committed to ensuring that the new teachers we recruit and select are thoroughly prepared to be highly effective teachers. Supported by the Director of Teacher Certification, the Manager will coordinate mentoring for Inspired Teaching Fellows, while serving as the primary point of contact for Fellows.  Additionally, the Manager will collect and organize multiple types of program data.  Given the Inspired Teacher Certification Program's focus on early childhood education, the Manager must have a depth of experience teaching and working with students in preschool and pre-kindergarten.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a primary contact for residency sites and school-based support for the Inspired Teacher Certification Program
  • Manage program communication with early childhood Inspired Teaching Fellows, including collecting and analyzing early childhood student data
  • Participate in the identification, training, and support of program mentors
  • Support the recruitment and selection process of Inspired Teaching Fellows
  • Assist with program evaluation, including student data collection, analysis, and interpretation; collecting and analyzing participant feedback; and engaging in classroom observations
  • Participate in Inspired Teaching's strategic and business planning process, as well as expansion efforts for the Inspired Teacher Certification Program
  • Pursue continuous professional improvement through keeping informed on research, literature, position papers, articles, etc. from the various fields of study that impact our work with youth, and attending conferences as appropriate
  • Provide support to other Inspired Teaching programs, as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher, preferably in an early childhood classroom
  • Significant knowledge and experience with best practices in early childhood education, progressive pedagogy, including inquiry-based teaching
  • Exceptional instructional skills and experience in motivating and instructing young children and adults
  • Strong understanding of and belief in Inspired Teaching's progressive, constructivist philosophy of education
  • Experience thinking and planning creatively about new teacher instruction
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work with and relate to a wide variety of clientele, including teachers, parents, and administrators
  • Ability to build relationships with and negotiate with a variety of clientele on the organization's behalf
  • Experience facilitating meetings and giving presentations
  • Strong organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Commitment to improving the lives of young children in underserved communities and dedication to social change through education.
