Calling all educators who work with expecting and parenting students! You are cordially invited to attend the third annual Hope Conference on June 21, 2014 from 9am-5pm! The Hope Conference is hosted by a nonprofit organization called Generation Hope, which reduces poverty one family at a time by providing direct sponsorships and one-on-one mentoring support to teen parents who are attending college in Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. Our unique program model allows us to identify and cultivate support within the corporate community and among individuals to provide direct financial and mentoring support that increases the likelihood that our Scholars will graduate from college.
The Hope Conference is a day full of trainings and workshops specifically designed to help expecting and parenting high school students prepare for college and life-long success. This year, for the first time, we are also hosting a track just for professionals who work with expecting and parenting students! Professionals will have workshops on:
- College Admissions and Financial Aid (led by Wendy Raynor from Applerouth Tutoring Services)
- Title IX and what it means for your students (led by Lauren Khouri from the National Women's Law Center)
- Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training (led by Michele Booth Cole from Safe Shores)
- Redefining Success (led by Trenace Richardson from REAL Women)
as well as networking opportunities!
Registration for professionals is $15, which covers the cost of breakfast and lunch. To register your students for the High School Student track, please click here.
