This month, we're looking forward to having you assist our Scholars with their writing skills, judge the Debate Team, and be a guest speaker about immigration! As the season of giving back gets underway, think of Chavez Schools as a place where you can give back BIG by working directly with our Scholars to improve their education.
Current Opportunities
Urban Debate League
The Chavez Debate Team competes in tournaments hosted by the DC Urban Debate League five times per year. For each tournament, Chavez needs to recruit volunteer judges to make the competition possible.
Join us one or all Saturday's in the Debate League Series:
· Saturday, November 9th 9am-4pm (Location TBD)
6th Grade Immigration Speakers
Our 6th graders are currently learning about immigration to the United States: What pushes people to emigrate from their country of origin? What pulls them to immigrate to another country? Many of our students are familiar with the immigration process, as their families are immigrants themselves. We're looking for speakers that can help explain why it is sometimes necessary for people to immigrate to another country illegally.
Share your knowledge of immigration with our Scholars:
