[YEP-DC] My School DC Data Manager Opening

Data Manager, My School DC

 

Background

 

The current system for public school choice in DC requires families to apply separately to each charter school, and to DCPS, and navigate different deadlines, paperwork and processes. Since each lottery is run independently, some students end up with multiple offers while others are waitlisted everywhere. To both streamline the process and ensure equal access for all families across the city, the DCPS Chancellor, charter leaders, Public Charter School Board and the Deputy Mayor for Education have joined forces to build a common lottery system: My School DC. 

 

Position Overview

 

The Project Management Team seeks a data manager to manage My School DC's data collection, clean-up and reporting. The data manager will set up data tracking systems, design and produce regular reports for participating schools, run analyses upon request for the Project Management Team, and assist with running the lottery algorithm. This position reports to the Citywide Project Manager, begins in late November and ends in June with the possibility of an extension.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

 

The Data Manager is responsible for the following:

 

       Designing and producing weekly reports for participating LEAs with My School DC data, including number of applications received, relative demand indicators, and geographic distribution of applications

       Managing application data clean-up, including identifying and resolving duplicate applications

       Calling applicants as needed to resolve data errors and tracking

       Assisting with running the lottery algorithm and checking for errors

       Producing and distributing rosters to LEAs

       Responding to technical questions from LEA representatives

       Participating in all PMT meetings

 

Qualifications and key competencies include:

      Bachelor's degree required

       Minimum of three years work experience preferred, including extensive experience handling data sets in Excel

       Previous exposure to education preferred

       Innovative Problem-Solving:  Approaches work with a sense of possibility and sees challenges as opportunities for creative problem solving; takes initiative to explore issues and find potential innovative solutions.

       Adaptability: Excels in constantly changing environments and adapts flexibly in shifting projects or priorities to meet the needs of a dynamic transformation effort; comfortable with ambiguity and non-routine situations.

       Teamwork: Increases the effectiveness of surrounding teams through collaboration, constant learning and supporting others; sensitive to diversity in all its forms; respects and is committed to learning from others

       Dependability: Does whatever it takes to consistently deliver with high quality under tight deadlines; successfully manages own projects through strong organization, detailed work plans, and balancing of multiple priorities.

       Communication and Customer Service Skills: Communicates clearly and compellingly with diverse stakeholders in both oral and written forms; anticipates and responds to customer needs in a high-quality and courteous manner.

 

Compensation

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
