FEDERAL MOVEMENT ON SCHOOL DIVERSITY: A QUICK RECAP

For decades, the federal government has placed little emphasis on promoting racially and socioeconomically diverse schools, but that appears to be changing. On Recess, Jenna Tomasello of the American Youth Policy Forum highlights several ways the federal government is addressing the issue of school diversity. Through new research on the impact of intensified segregation, collaboration across federal agencies, and ongoing legislative efforts, the federal government has demonstrated it is paying more attention to the idea that increasing diversity can lead to better student outcomes.
