Re: [dcab-l] Bluegrass Country Radio and You

91% of a lot is better than 100% of a little.

Every charity dedicates a substantial portion of its budget to fundraising. This is the real world.

American Red Cross: 5.5%
World Wildlife Fund: 19.4%
Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence: 13.4%
Wounded Warrior Project: 35.2%

Yes, but they all take between and 5 and 9 percent of proceeds -- most are 9 percent. Not a great deal when you're trying to raise a lot of money.

Aren't there websites specifically designed for fundraising? Kickstarter or something, maybe others? Anyone on the list have any suggestions?

Hi folks. I think everyone on this list has been a listener of Bluegrass Country or its previous incarnations on WAMU over the years. Here it is, plain and simple: THE STATION WILL DISAPPEAR FROM THE EARTH FOREVER ON DECEMBER 31st IF YOU DO NOT STEP UP AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT IT NOW. I ask you to dig deep and give generously to the new Bluegrass Country Foundation which hopes to become the station's new home.  More than $37,000 has already been raised toward the goal of $200,000.

And here's a new wrinkle: If the foundation is successful taking over the assets of Bluegrass Country radio, the station it will no longer be backstopped by a large university. It will become, in the truest sense, community radio. We become the backstop. So now's the time for all of us to put on our big boy/girl pants and make a commitment to financially support Bluegrass Country radio today -- and consistently in the future.

It's too important to lose.

Below is a press release that will go out tomorrow. Please spread the word to all your peeps about this effort.

All help appreciated,

Thx

Randy
