Who We are and What We Expect:
DC International School is an innovative middle/high school created by five elementary language immersion public charter schools in DC to create a pathway through secondary school for their students and families. DCI will enable students to continue their language immersion in French, Spanish, and Mandarin while participating in inquiry-based education through the International Baccalaureate Middle and Diploma Years Programmes. We will have grades 6 through 9 (MYP 1, 2, 3 and 4) for the 2016-2017 school year. We will grow into a 6-12 middle and high school.

Position Overview: This teaching position requires language fluency in one of DCI's three target languages (French, Spanish, or Mandarin) and in English. Instruction will be delivered in that target language for certain sections during the school day, and in English for others during the school year.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (minimum) from an accredited institution.
Experience in teaching secondary-level health and physical education.
Appreciation and understanding of Chinese, French, and Spanish culture.
Fluency in one of our three target languages and in English.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong motivational skills.
Extensive knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and wellness for adolescents.
Physical ability to demonstrate athletic activities.
Able to meet HQT requirements under NCLB
Essential Responsibilities:
Plan and implement the physical and health curriculum for all grade levels in collaboration with the leadership team.
Work with the Extracurricular Program Coordinator to develop and implement secondary Athletic program
Develop and implement student assessments.
Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, and school administration to report on students' progress.
Organize and administer health and wellness assessments.
Demonstrate effective class management.
Coordinate instruction with other instructional staff of the school. Communicate regularly and assist classroom teachers with integrating health and physical wellness into the instructional program.
Advise and coordinate supervision of extracurricular athletics, including interscholastic and intramural sports.
Comply with school operational procedures accordingly.
High degree of communication through a variety of mediums with parents and students
Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students
Ensure that our 1:1 technology culture is implemented effectively for students by infusing it into instruction (when appropriate)
