Vice President of Development & Partnerships
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Being an involved member of the YEP-DC Executive Board who is engaged in YEP-DC's central planning
- Manage and lead the Advisory Committee meetings
- With VP of Finance, developing annual development strategy with a goal of ensuring YEP-DC's events are co-sponsored and/or under-written, as needed
- Researching potential funders and partners
- Seeking out funders and/or for both general support and for support of specific activities/events (e.g., grants, major gifts, in-kind donations)
- Cultivating and coordinating relationships with potential and existing funders and partners
- With VP of Communications & Marketing, identifying and creating relevant development materials (e.g., case statements, brochure(s), etc.)
- With President and VP of External Relations, being point of contact for organizations looking to partner with YEP-DC
- Overseeing Development Chair, Grant Writer Chair, and Giving and Fundraising Chair
Time commitment: 20-30 hours per month (includes 3-hour monthly meeting and 3-hour monthly event; note that monthly meetings are hosted by Executive Board members on a rotating basis) YEP-DC expects the new VP, if selected, to be able to make a one year commitment to the position.
Vice President of Operations
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Being an involved member of the YEP-DC Executive Board who is engaged in YEP-DC's central planning
- Work with Salesforce representative in managing the CRM
- Daily managing content and organization of YEP-affiliated listserv (i.e., MailChimp/Google Group) including job listings
- Manage the YEPDC email account including forwarding and responding to mesages
- Overseeing the Operations Chair
- Analyze membership data and report to the Executive Board
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining an organization system for Executive Board documents, including online and paper records
Time commitment: 20-30 hours per month (includes 3-hour monthly meeting and 3-hour monthly event; note that monthly meetings are hosted by Executive Board members on a rotating basis). YEP-DC expects the new VP, if selected, to be able to make a one year commitment to the position.
Vice President of Programming, Career & Professional Development
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Being an involved member of the YEP-DC Executive Board who is engaged in YEP-DC's central planning
- With the VP of Programming, Knowledge Development & Community Engagement, establishing a calendar of events for each year
- Developing and executing YEP-DC's programming strategy to support our members' career and professional development
- Overseeing, at a minimum, bi-monthly career/professional development events aligned with the mission and vision of YEP-DC (in response to members' interests) including developing program/content for events, arranging space and logistics, budget, guest speakers, etc.
- Managing volunteers at YEP-DC career/professional development events (e.g., ensures registration is staffed)
- Working with VP of Development & Partnerships and VP of External Relations on securing partners for events
- Overseeing YEP Connect Chair, Mentorship Chair, and Professional Development Chair
Time commitment: 20-30 hours per month (includes 3-hour monthly meeting and 3-hour monthly event; note that monthly meetings are hosted by Executive Board members on a rotating basis) YEP-DC expects the new VP, if selected, to be able to make a one year commitment to the position.
Vice President of Programming, Knowledge Development & Community Engagement
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Being an involved member of the YEP-DC Executive Board who is engaged in YEP-DC's central planning
- With the VP of Programming, Career & Professional Development, establishing the calendar of events for each year
- Developing and executing YEP-DC's programming strategy to support our members' knowledge development, community engagement, and regular networking opportunities
- Overseeing, at a minimum, bi-monthly monthly social, panel and/or community engagement events aligned with the mission and vision of YEP-DC (in response to members' interests) including developing program/content for events, arranging space and logistics, budget, guest speakers, etc.
- Managing volunteers at YEP-DC events (e.g., ensures registration is staffed)
- Working with VP of Development & Partnerships and VP of External Relations on securing partners for events
- Overseeing Conference Chair, and Panels Chair
Time commitment: 20-30 hours per month (includes 3-hour monthly meeting and 3-hour monthly event; note that monthly meetings are hosted by Executive Board members on a rotating basis) YEP-DC expects the new VP, if selected, to be able to make a one year commitment to the position.
Conference Chair
The Conference Chair's responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing an annual conference for YEP-DC members around how education policy and practice can be better connected
- Managing a Conference Committee to support the planning and execution of the conference (roles of committees will vary, but may include reaching out to facilitators and organizations, securing food donations, helping with logistics)
- Working with various members of the Executive Board to secure food and monetary donations, send out communication to various stakeholders, recruit people to attend the conference, and secure dozens of facilitators to lead workshops
Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in event planning and execution highly preferred
Time commitment: 12-15 hours per month, with more around conference time (around January-March)
YEP Professional Development Chair
The YEP Professional Development Chair's responsibilities include:
- Plan, schedule, and execute YEP-DC's professional development program consisting of four events per year
- Plan and administer the Next Steps PD series in the fall
- Develop programming based on the interests of membership as communicated through member and event surveys
- Oversee planning committees including recruitment of event volunteers
- Recruit panelists, facilitators, experts, etc
- Secure event spaces
- Update and maintain facilitator spreadsheets to ensure diversity of race, ethnicity, job position, and sector
- Update and maintain presenter application process and spreadsheet
- Update and maintain event space spreadsheets
- Coordinate with other chairpersons and YEP Leadership Team members as needed
Experience/Skills/Abilities: Event planning experience a plus. Connections to professional development a plus.
Time commitment: 8-10 hours per month, with concentration of time around events
