2016 Hazel Dickens Song ContestWinners Announced!

March 10, 2016 --The 2016 Hazel Dickens Song Contest is proud to announce the three winning songs out of a burgeoning field of 197 entries.

 1^st Place:Weeping Willows by Talia Segal, Brighton, MA

 2^nd Place: Turnand Burn by David Morris,Gaithersburg, MD; Dave Adkins, Pikeville,     KY; andDawn Kenney, Waltham, MA

 3^rd Place: MyBrother Paul and Me by Ronnie King, Paint Lick, KY

Honorable mentions:

 Oceans by Casey Penn
 Blue Ridge Mountain Home by Hunter and Suzy Owens
 I'll Take Love by Louisa Branscomb

We congratulate the winnersand thank all the songwriters who participated in this year's competition. Ourjudges were Bob Lucas, Lee Michael Demsey and Wayne Taylor.

The Hazel Dickens Song Contestcelebrates the life and muse of one of bluegrass music's most belovedsongwriters. All proceeds help fund the DC Bluegrass Union, a 501(c)3 nonprofitmembership organization with a mission to promote bluegrass music in the greaterWashington, DC, region through education and performance.
